Soak up the scenic majesty of North York Moors National Park and sample traditional English fish and chips in the seaside town of Whitby. All this and more on an awesome 'British' day trip from York, with a group of explorers and your guide.

See the famous Kilburn White Horse. Stop for coffee and a medieval castle in the market town of Helmsley. Then look for flying broomsticks in the village of Goathland (they filmed some of Harry Potter here).

Visit the Captain Cook Museum and see the home Cook returned to in the winter of 1771–72, exhausted by his first voyage! Get yourself some Gothic Fashion (Whitby itself inspired the Dracula books), or tuck into some British fish and chips from the famous Magpie Café.

Whitby Abbey is another highlight - a brooding 7th-century Christian monastery you can definitely picture a broomstick flying over.
