About: Villa Fogazzaro Roi

Villa Fogazzaro Roi was once the summer residence of Antonio Fogazzaro, a writer who was nominated for the Nobel Prize seven times. The villa has stunning views overlooking the Italian shore of Lake Lugano. It was donated to the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) by Fogazzaro's grandson, and preserves its opulent 19th-century character.

Palazzo Strozzi

Palazzo Strozzi is one of Florence’s great Renaissance residences. Powerful banker Filippo Strozzi the Elder commissioned the palace in the late 1400s, ordering the demolition of a large number of pre-existing buildings in the process. The Palazzo Strozzi we see today is a free-standing and beautifully proportioned structure that trumps the Medici Palace of Strozzi’s business and political rivals, the Medici family. The Strozzi family eventually relinquished the property during the fascist period, and the City of Florence has been managing it since 1999. Visitors now come to see some of the most exciting exhibitions held in Italy each year.

Swissminiatur is an open-air miniature park, and a great chance to see Switzerland in miniature if you don't have time to cover the real thing. It's located on the shore of Lake Lugano in Melide, very close to the Melide train station. Most of the buildings are waist height, at a scale of 1:25. They were built to represent the most important buildings, monuments and transportation means in Switzerland, and kids will love the bumper cars and train rides on offer.
