The Art Institute of Chicago tickets include:

  • Priority access to the Art Institute of Chicago

  • Access to all galleries and non-ticketed exhibitions

  • A 2.5-hour guided tour with an expert if you select the semi-private tour option

Useful information:

  • Coat and bag check is free. Bags and backpacks larger than 13 x 17 x 4 inches are not allowed in the galleries and must be checked

  • You can bring your own water bottle inside. There are water filling stations located throughout

  • Currently there are no dining options inside the museum

  • There are two gift shops inside

  • Photography is permitted inside the Art Institute of Chicago

  • Selfie sticks are not allowed inside

  • Sketching with pencils is allowed inside

  • You can expect to spend one to four hours inside the museum, depending on the level of detail you want to discover it in

The Art Institute of Chicago opening hours:

  • Find the latest opening times. The first hour of every day, the hour before the official opening time, is reserved for member-only viewing

  • The museum is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday

Free entry:

The following groups can enter the Art Institute for free:

  • Children under 14

  • Chicago teens under 18

  • Students who attend one of the institute's University Partner schools

  • LINK and WIC cardholders

  • Illinois educators

  • Active-duty military and their families (Armed Services Day - Labor Day)

Excellent and very knowledgeable guide with genuine politeness and good humour and. So much to see in the museum you need someone to pick out a few select pieces.

This pass was a great deal and very easy to use. I was able to easily reschedule a timed event and we were permitted into the museum a few minutes before opening for having a city pass.
