Bali may be a popular spot for the most recent generation of travelers, but it was inspiring artists long before its boom in tourism. Museum Pasifika has gathered works from around the world showcasing the beauty of the Island of the Gods and its way of life – Tri Hita Karana.
The museum proudly features the works of Indonesian artists, such as Affandi, Hendra, and Kobot alongside a lithograph by Matisse and bronze sculptures by Gauguin. Visitors can also find one of the earliest studies of Bali from outside the island by admiring the work of Mexican artist, Miguel Covarrubias.
Covarrubias published a seminal book called Island of Bali and brought the tropical wonders of the island and its people to a general audience. His works are still on display, next to pieces that showcase the wider Asian continent. Step into Museum Pasifika and uncover this hidden cultural gem for yourself.
