Start with an early bus ride from Rome through the Italian countryside. Reach Pompeii for a 2-hour guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Buried by Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, Pompeii shows ancient Roman life with the Forum, amphitheater, and preserved villas with frescoes.

After the tour, have lunch at a local restaurant with regional specialties. Post-lunch, head to Mount Vesuvius, an active volcano. Learn about its history and eruptions, then hike to the crater to see the Bay of Naples.
