Skip the line to the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia and wander among artifacts that originated in actual burial tombs. This museum is in Pope Julius III's country retreat, and full of fascinating statues, frescoes, and more.

From temple decorations to black bucchero tableware, to bronze figurines, terracotta, and various jewelry, there's enough pre-Roman bling to keep you dazzled for hours at The National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia.

Located near Villa Borghese, not far from the National Gallery of Modern Art, it's an easy-to-reach slice of Italian history. Peruse the different sections dedicated to the most important facets of Etruscan civilization.

Villa Poniatowski is now open again to the public form Fridays to Sundays, from 15:00pm until 19:00pm; please note the lift is still out of service due to maintenance. Getting There = Take tram 19 and get off at the Museo Etrusco Villa Giulia stop, or take any bus with a Villa Giulia stop.
