The Pont du Gard aqueduct is the most-visited French monument dating from antiquity. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this ancient former aquaduct is one of the best-preserved Roman sites in the world. It is located in Occitanie, between Nîmes, Uzès and Avignon, in France.

Excellent
An awesome example of the engineering expertise, of the Romans. The whole site was a perfect mixture of unspoilt history, coupled with superbly modern facilities for visitors. The museum is brilliant.

You don’t skip many queues unless you want to visit the museum and it wasn’t too busy the day we went. Still, it’s good to know that you can skip any queue if you need to. The Pont du Garde itself...

This is the best thing you can do near Nimes or Avignon. Plan to spend 3 hours or more and bring a swim suit!
