I recently booked a tour with Tiqets to visit Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. The Pompeii experience was outstanding. Our guide was engaging, knowledgeable, and kept things entertaining, making the history come alive. We could have listened to him for hours without getting bored. However, the Vesuvius part was less smooth. We had to take an extra bus or 20mins to a different meeting point, which wasn’t clearly communicated, and the staff didn’t seem to know the exact bus stop. Having this information in writing (bus schedule etc.) would have been very helpful. The tour company described a "mountain tour," but it wasn’t a private one—it was just a pickup service with a 20-minute wait. Despite this, the experience of climbing Vesuvius without a guide was amazing. The drivers took us near the top, and the views were breathtaking. Overall, I’d recommend the trip, but clearer communication for the Vesuvius portion would make it even better.

The guided tour in Pompeii was magnificent! Our guide was amazing and we got so much more out of the experience than if we would have just toured the sights by ourselves. We also loved the guide and his enthusiasm on the top of Vesuvius! The walk up was quite hard in the heat, but totally worth the effort. Traffic culture in Italy is quite different than what we are used to, so the minibus ride to Vesuvius and back to Pompeii was an experience. There also seemed to have been some kind of miscalculation or mishap with how many people were going to be on this minibus ride to Vesuvius and back. At least one person had to jump of the bus and apparently got a different ride up and down. As for the ride to Vesuvius, everything didn’t go as smoothly as it could have, but we are happy we went there. And for the guided tour in Pompeii, everything went smoothly and overall experience was excellent.
