Over a hundred years ago, the village women of Zalipie, a hidden gem in south-eastern Poland, participated in a tradition of transforming their homes into canvases.
Each home in Zalipie is a work of art with paintings on walls, stoves, and even fences. The local women have poured their hearts into every brush stroke, crafting delicate tissue-paper flowers, and weaving charming hay spiders.
The village's love for flora stretches beyond the interior, with blossoms and petals splashed across the exteriors of cottages, farm buildings, wells, and more.
Currently, Zalipie boasts about 20 of these mesmerizing painted houses. The most notable among them is the farmhouse of Felicja Curyłowa, a Zalipie painter whose home now serves as a museum.
