Important note: At Hagia Sophia Mosque Disabled visitors and visitors with walking difficulties are unable to enter e through the second floor of the gallery. This group of visitors can proceed with their tickets to the entrance on the first floor, which is the entrance for Turkish citizens, therefore this group of people can only enter the first floor (praying area).

  • Women are required to cover their hair, shoulders, knees and chest
  • Hair should be partially covered with a scarf (available for purchase onsite)
  • Men are required to cover their knees and shoulders

  • Friday: Mosque closed to tourists from 12pm to 2pm

  • Both men and women should wear clothing that covers their shoulders, arms, and knees. Sleeveless tops, short skirts, and shorts are not appropriate
  • Head Covering for women is mandatory
  • Loose-Fitting Clothing – wearing loose-fitting clothing is recommended to adhere to the modesty standards of the mosque
  • Avoiding Transparent Clothing – clothing that is see-through or revealing is not appropriate
  • Tattoos and Symbols – cover any tattoos or symbols that may be considered disrespectful or offensive in a religious context
  • Security line check can take some time in high season
  • Please fold your stroller and carry it in your hand as the wheels may damage the historical floor
  • Visitors can get a scarf and a body cover from the desk if needed at an extra cost.

The tickets were easy to use, however, the entry is not clearly marked, it was hard to find. Also if you don't live in Europe I recommend for backup to print out a paper ticket or save a screenshot of it, because your cellphone service and internet might not work. You can also buy a SIM card from Vodafone, it works in EU countries plus in Turkiye.
