The "Dresden 1719" experience at the Senseum Dresden takes visitors back to the Dresden Baroque of 1719. They are guests of Augustus the Strong himself and are invited to his son's wedding of the century. In preparation for the celebration, however, you first learn about the history of the Wettin dynasty. As a contrast to this you then visit a juggler's theatre, where the flippant tone of the suburbs prevails. Equipped with these two perspectives - of rich and poor - we then travel by VR to the festivities in the Zwinger, where the guests can see the pompous celebration for themselves.

1 The Hall of Mirrors In the magnificent Hall of Mirrors, visitors are ceremoniously welcomed by the master of ceremonies on behalf of the host, Augustus the Strong of the House of Wettin. He tells them about the Wettin dynasty, whose history is accompanied by animations and baroque music. At the end, the master of ceremonies gives an overview of the route of the carriage ride before preparing the carriages. Meanwhile, the guests wait with the jugglers in the suburb.

2 The jugglers' theatre The Gauklerbühne in the suburbs delights with a paper theatre. Set in a juggler's wagon, an animated film is shown on a television. The jester figure tells of court and wedding. Unlike the master of ceremonies, he does not refrain from making crude jokes about the nobility. A clear contrast to the subtle tones in the hall of mirrors. After the performance, the carriages are ready and the journey to the wedding feast begins.

3 The virtual reality carriage ride The carriages take you back to the year 1719 via VR. On the carriage ride through the Wilsdruffer suburb, travellers experience poverty, crafts and anecdotes before entering the Zwinger, where the Merkur Festival full of pomp and splendour takes place. The journey leads past jugglers, artists and the best craftsmen in the country. Finally time travellers are greeted not only by Augustus the Strong and his bridal couple, but also by fireworks with a view over Dresden before returning to the present.
