We learned a lot about Amsterdam’s history and loved using the walk along audio tour. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that the last bit was a little confusing. There were options as to where...
We learned a lot about Amsterdam’s history and loved using the walk along audio tour. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that the last bit was a little confusing. There were options as to where you could go and not a tone of good signage.

Fascinating. First stop on my 4 day visit to Amsterdam. If you love learning about the history of your location, then perfect.
I visited just on opening time (10am), not busy. Helpful, friendly staff!

About: Amsterdam Museum
The Amsterdam Museum tells the story of the Dutch capital, from the Middle Ages through the 17th century, and right up to modern times. When it opened its doors in 1926 it was located in the Waag at the Nieuwmarkt. In 1975 the museum moved to its current location, just off the Kalverstraat, a building that was originally a municipal orphange. The collection is full of photos, artifacts and interactive exhibits.
