The house takes its name from the married couple who lived there at the end of the 19th century, Abraham Willet and Louisa Holthuysen.

Considered one of the earliest private collections in the Netherlands, this trove of wonders is exactly as Abraham Willet and his wife Louisa Holthuysen left it in 1895. See paintings, sculptures, books, photos, ceramics, and even weapons!

The house itself is an artwork in its own right. Highlights include the stunning Louis XVI style ballroom and gentlemen's parlor, as well as the beautiful French Classical style garden – an oasis of serene calm, right in the center of Amsterdam.

Upon her death, Louisa Holthuysen's only wish was that the house be returned to the City of Amsterdam and made open to the public. 120 years later, that's still the case!
