Tips for visiting Zoo Miami

Most people spend about four hours exploring Zoo Miami, while others can easily take all day and still want more time inside. It also depends whether you choose to walk on foot, rent a safari cycle, or take a tram tour, which all offer new perspectives on the animal enclosures and help take the weight off your feet.

Nourish 305 offers made-to-order sandwiches, salads and more, with views of the 'Florida: Mission Everglades' exhibit. Miami BGR serves up family-friendly fare to enjoy your zoo excursion. Oasis Grill – right at the center of the zoo – serves up grilled goodies, and the kids can run around in the new Playworld Playground, or cool down at the animal-themed splash pad.

On weekends and holidays, you'll find food and drinks available at various vendor carts around the zoo, while ice cream, water, and soda machines are easy to find for all those sudden demands for refreshment.

You're not permitted to bring your own food or drinks into the park. If you do bring food, you can store it in the lobby of the Administration Building and collect it from the receptionist when you're ready to eat. Alternatively, just make good use of the dining options in Zoo Miami. There's something for everyone!

Meet Zoo Miami's oldest and wrinkliest residents, the Galapagos tortoises, with the Tortoise Encounter. This experience lets you get up close to these prehistoric giants and take the perfect selfie!

The Giraffe Feeding Experience puts you face-to-face with a giraffe as it curls its 18-inch tongue around the food you have in your hand. Get face-to-face with one of the largest land animals in the world! This encounter will leave you with a lasting impression as you get up-close and pose for photos with a magnificent greater one-horned rhino.

And bird buffs won't want to miss the Parrot Feeding Experience, where the zoo's friendly birds will fly and perch on your arms or hands (and sometimes even your head).

Know before you go: These experiences are not included with your Zoo Miami tickets. Advance reservations are required. Due to limited capacity, no refunds can be issued.

Whether you're on foot or not, getting around Zoo Miami is fun and easy. A Safari Cycle will take up to six adults and two small children, and a winding walkway links all of Zoo Miami's exhibits and attractions together.

There's also a narrated Safari Tram Tour through the Asia and Africa exhibits, which will educate you on the animals as you go.

On a sunny day it's fun to rent pedal boats shaped like ducks and swans on the lake in the 'Amazon & Beyond' exhibit. Note that bike rental and rides are not included in standard Zoo Miami tickets and will have to be purchased on the spot!

Your Zoo Miami tickets get you into an urban safari of animals from all corners of the globe. You'll see everything from chattering chimpanzees to lounging lions, swinging orangutans, sleepy sloths, prowling jaguars, giant river otters and more.

Kids will love watching the proud gorillas, giraffes and elephants commanding the attention of everyone around them. And critter fans will get a kick out spiders and snakes like the green anaconda and its slithery cousin, the eyelash viper – plus hundreds of other reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals.

Don't forget that bad weather, maintenance or animal health issues might mean a few changes from day to day. If you're planning to see a specific animal, call ahead to make sure it'll be out and about.

Zoo Miami has been an accredited AZA (Association of Zoos & Aquariums) member since 1984. This means it has been granted official recognition and approval as a zoo, aquarium, wildlife park or sanctuary by a group of experts. On top of that, in 2021, Zoo Miami opened its new Conservation Action Center (CAC).

The center is an immersive, interactive exhibition experience that will introduce visitors to local and global conservation stories. Learn about our impact on our ecosystems, and see how we can take action on behalf of wildlife.

Zoo Miami plays an important role in ongoing research and conservation efforts and follows strict rules regarding breeding and the level of contact allowed with the animals by staff and visitors.

Отличное место для семьи, да и в целом очень крутой зоопарк, провели 4 часа, прошли только треть всего, советую брать плавки и полотенце детям, очень хорошие площадки с фонтанами!
