Rarica is the new project site specific by the artist and sculptor Francesco Diluca, organized in collaboration with Aditus and curated by Lara Gaeta and Camilla Nacci Zanetti.
Designed specifically for paying homage to Sicily, Rarica (root in Sicilian dialect) draws inspiration from the sea and the creatures that populate it and speaks -through over thirty works including sculptures, land art installations and video- of interdependence between human being and nature, ecosystems, organisms living in communities and transformative processes.
The exhibition was born in the sea of Ortigia with the underwater sculpture "Reef - Kura Halos" and continues on the surface in the spaces of the Maniace Castle, with sculptures among which stand out the protagonists of the myth: Orpheus and Euridice. The installations created for the Hypostyle Room counterbalance water and sea creatures Maniac Castle, which recall the fire intended as an element that generates change.
Stare out across the sea from this scenic Syracuse citadel. The castle was built in the early 13th century by Emperor Frederick II and was home to a number of Sicilian queens from the 14th to 16th centuries. While some of its former glory may be gone, remnants of this once great castle remain, including intricate masonry.

The Ancient Theater of Taormina is an ancient Greco-Roman amphitheater in Taormina, Sicily. Built by the ancient Greeks in around the third century BC, the site was renovated by the Romans around 500 years later.
