Thousands and thousands of metal and wooden crosses loom over a hilltop just outside the northern city of Šiauliai, and no one knows exactly why! It's so bizarre that the Hill of Crosses has a firm spot on the list of the ten creepiest places in the world.

See the site that keeps on thriving, no matter how many times the government try to level it. This unique tour to northern Lithuania's Šiauliai and its Hill of Crosses is for anyone who enjoys the thrill of a few goosebumps!

The first mention of these crosses was in 1850, but some people think they appeared earlier to mark a place of pilgrimage for the religious. More were possibly put here as a memorial to lives lost in the Russian regime in 1831, and later in 1863.

See crucifixes swaying in the breeze, get up close to photos of highly regarded patriots, and learn about the Lithuanian craft of cross-making, as well as local culture and history, from your audio guide.
