Visit an old Gothic temple and admire its Baroque decorations
Santos Juanes Church, or Sant Joan del Mercat, is a grand Roman Catholic church in the heart of Valencia. Built on the site of a mosque around 1240, this historic monument has been rebuilt and refurbished throughout the years, with its present Baroque exterior dating back to the end of the 17th century. Inside, frescoes adorn the ceilings, with original religious art, ornate carvings, and statues dotted about. It's well worth a look if you're wandering the Mercat neighborhood.
