Join an expert guide and take a tour of the Invalides complex, including visits to Napoleon's Tomb and the Army Museum.

The gleaming golden dome of the Invalides was originally constructed under King Louis XIV, and is now home to the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte. The vast complex surrounding the cathedral is dedicated to exhibiting the many chapters of French military history, from medieval knights, to Napoleon’s European conquests and the World Wars of the 20th century.

Learn not only about the French, but about the many nations that have come to fight on French soil. Of particular interest are the exhibits about the D-Day Landings in Normandy and the Liberation of Paris in 1944.

You’ll also have the chance to visit the church and discover the tomb of the most famous military leader in European history. Napoleon. Although he died in exile in 1821, his remains were returned to Paris in 1840 and entombed here according to his wishes. His son, nicknamed the Eaglet, also died on foreign soil; Hitler reinterred his body here in 1940.
