Next, head to Twin Peaks Tavern, one of the area's pioneering gay bars. Hear about Officer Jane Warner, the first openly gay officer in neighboring Marin County, and see one of the country's last palace theaters nearby. Take a break at historic Hibernia Beach and enjoy scenic views.

No visit to the Castro neighborhood is complete without seeing Harvey Milk's former camera shop and campaign headquarters, an iconic landmark.
