Miguel is the best guide, we (English speaking) took the Catalan tour on our last day on the island. He gave us a little bit of information in English throughout the tour when he did not need to. He was very good at keeping the Catalonian kids on the tour engaged. Even the very grumpy pre-teen boy. Gracias Miguel!

Fort Marlborough

Fort Marlborough was built by the British between 1720 and 1726, during the first period of British rule in Menorca, and its good state of preservation makes it a magnificent example of 18th-century military engineering. Located in Cala Sant Esteve (Es Castell), its function was to defend the entrance to the port of Mahón. It is excavated in the rock, and is accessed through a tunnel, which reveals a subsoil full of galleries and subway rooms. The upper part offers a magnificent panoramic view of the mouth of the port. An exhibition montage integrated in the enclosure explains the history and peculiarities of the fort, and helps you understand the turbulent 18th century and the legacy left by Britain in Menorca.
