Located in Palazzo Braschi – a fine example of Papal nepotism, slap bang in the heart of Renaissance Rome – you'll also be privy to the impressive late 18th-century architecture of Cosimo Morelli. Perhaps, most impressive of all is the central staircase with its 18 red granite columns originally used by Emperor Caligula.

Inside you'll find over 100,000 works, from paintings and drawings, to furniture and costumes. Also on show are fragments of medieval frescoes taken from the demolished Roman church of Santa Maria in Vincis.

Then, check out Palazzo Patrizi Montoro, a residence belonging to a distinguished Roman noble family since 1642.
