Go on an expedition to a Pacific Island, to the deep-sea floor, back to the age of the dinosaurs, or out to the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy – all without leaving New York! Book your American Museum of Natural History tickets in advance and open up a world of discovery. You'll be able to choose from the latest special exhibits on arrival!

It's one of the largest museums on Earth and is filled with the plants, animals, and minerals that make up our planet (and solar system, and galaxy).

If you want to start big, go to the Rose Center for Earth and Space. It explores the 13-billion-year history of the universe and cosmic evolution.

Speaking of water: The Milstein Hall of Ocean Life shows you the diversity of the life aquatic including a life-size model of the enormous blue whale; just its heart is the size of a VW Beetle!

Check out the brand-new Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, where spectacular architecture and fascinating exhibits reveal how all life is connected. Taking the museum experience to soaring new heights, the Gilder Center showcases:

  • The year-round Davis Family Butterfly Vivarium with up to 1,000 free-flying butterflies
  • The Susan and Peter J. Solomon Family Insectarium, a gallery devoted to Earth’s most diverse and abundant animal group and home of the largest leafcutter ant colony in the US
  • Floor-to-ceiling displays of the Museum’s scientific collections spread out across three levels that help us understand the natural world and global cultures

Elsewhere, get Jurassic at the most important collection of dinosaur fossils in the world, including the mighty T. rex, one of the most fearsome dinosaurs to ever roam the Earth. You thought the T. rex was big? Wait until you see the enormous, snaking Titanosaur on the fourth floor.

Enjoy general admission, plus two or more of the following ticketed exhibitions: the Davis Family Butterfly Vivarium, Invisible Worlds, the giant-screen film, the Hayden Planetarium Space Show, or other ticketed exhibitions.
