About: Métis Crossing

Métis Crossing is the first major Métis cultural interpretive centre in Alberta and is a premier centre for Alberta Métis cultural interpretation, education, gatherings, and business development.

Sitting on 512-acres of land, comprised of river lot titles from the original Métis settlers to the region in the late 1800s, the crossing is designed to engage and excite visitors through an exploration of Métis cultural experiences.

Métis Crossing strives to represent and share elements of Métis culture; pride of culture and respect (with self-identification), family reconnection and reconciliation, sacredness of place and empathy and acknowledgement.

Fort Edmonton Park

Fort Edmonton Park is a cultural heritage park nestled in a 64-hectare area of wooded parkland in Edmonton, Alberta. The park provides a living history of Canada's First Nations and Métis Peoples. What began as a Canada Centennial project in 1967 to reconstruct the old Fort Edmonton quickly grew to encompass much more. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Rotary Club of Edmonton and the Fort Edmonton Foundation, Fort Edmonton Park now includes the 1846 Hudson’s Bay Fort as well as recreated architecture, streets and streetcars from 1885, 1905, and 1920, depicting the evolution of Edmonton’s early history.
