If you wanted a crash course on humankind's artistic journey since the Middle Ages, then the Thyssen-Bornemisza is a great place to start. The collection ranges from religious paintings from the 14th century right through to the '60s pop art of Roy Lichtenstein.
A number of masterpieces are dotted throughout the museum, including Rubens' Venus and Cupid, Canaletto's view of Venice's Grand Canal, and pieces by Dalí, Manet, Picasso, and Degas. On top of all of that, lunch is included!
Combine Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza with other Madrid favorites. Some things are better together.
