The National Palace and Gardens of Queluz is a showcase for the grandeur of the 18th-century Portuguese royal family. The garden and palace of this Designated National Monument were designed in tandem, so that the interior feels like a continuation of the exterior, and vice versa!
Biester Palace is an 18th-century palace located in the historic center of Sintra, Portugal, and is considered one of the most important examples of Romantic architecture in the country. It was built in 1782 by the Portuguese nobleman José Luís de Moura. The palace was built in the neoclassical style with a symmetrical plan and surrounded by a walled garden. Its most striking features include the two-story façade with a pediment, the crenellated towers and the various chimneys, which are adorned with Rococo-style sculptures. The interior of the palace is also decorated in the neoclassical style and features several rooms, including a grand staircase, an impressive library and a formal dining room. The palace was classified as a National Monument in 1910, and it is now open to the public.
This palace, built in the first half of the 19th century in Neoclassical style, was chosen as the residence of the Portuguese Royal Family when Dom Luís I became king of Portugal and married an Italian princess, Dona Maria Pia of Savoy.
