Poor
We paid 17$ each for what? A 15 min walk around the museum, then we had to pay more to see a 3D movie. We thought the kids whould have some more activities, maybe digging. Very very very boring...

I've heard about the Tar Pits for years. With this being my first trip to California, I absolutely wanted to go to the museum.
It is well set up, very well cared for, and the work going on in the lab is fascinating. I learned a lot that I hadn't previously read about the history of the tar pits and the creatures who died in the tar.
It's also fascinating to see the active dig sites and the pond with the petroleum slick and gas bubbling up.
A visit that was well worth the travel, time, and money.
