The diversity of the subjects he covers and the permanent social component of his images are the main features of the work of the American Louis Stettner (New York, 1922-Paris, 2016), a long and very interesting career that has not received the recognition it deserves until now. With a life straddling New York and Paris, Stettner remained rooted in two worlds at a time when most photographers related to only one of them. In this sense, his work refers both to the aesthetics of New York street photography and to the poetic gaze of urban photography in the French tradition, always against the backdrop of his social concern and his determination to reflect the dignity of the human being. The exhibition, consisting of more than 180 photographs that cover Stettner's entire career, aims to alleviate the lack of knowledge that still exists today about his figure and the relevance of his work.
