Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt is one of the most breathtaking Baroque palaces in Austria, and an invitation to glimpse the decadence the super-rich enjoyed here centuries ago. Take a self-guided tour around and soak up the history of this palace, built in the late 13th century and home to the powerful Esterházy family for over 300 years.

Wander through the magnificent rooms on the bel étage, see the Wine Museum, and feast your eyes on historical treasures, including the Esterházy family silver – the world’s largest ensemble of Neoclassical silverware to survive as a set!

The jewel of Esterházy Palace is the Haydnsaal, known as one of the world's most impressive concert halls thanks to its perfect acoustics and remarkable interior design. Famous maestro Joseph 'Father of the String Quartet' Haydn composed many of his works right here.

Check your reflection in the Mirror Hall, which once served as the main reception of this fabulous palace, and climb up to the balcony to enjoy incredible views of Eisenstadt and beyond to Lake Neusiedl – Europe's second-biggest steppe lake.

Other highlights include the Banquet Hall and the Chinese Salon – decorated with intricate designs hand-painted in the 18th century. And don't miss the wine museum, with over 700 rare, unusual and sometimes long-forgotten objects relating to wine and viticulture.
