Leilah Babirye, born in Kampala and based in New York, is known for her expressive sculptures of ceramic and wood and found objects. She combines African wood-carving traditions with modern materials like wire and bicycle chains.
Her sculptures, from totems to masks, portray her LGBTQ+ community and celebrate cultural identity.
