Originally commissioned in the late eighteenth century by Cardinal Durini, a prominent writer and patron, the Villa del Balbianello Park was intended to be a haven of literary leisure and delight.
Fast forward to modern times, and the property was acquired by Guido Monzino, an entrepreneur, collector, and passionate adventurer.
In 1974, Monzino transformed the villa into a personal retreat where he could meticulously preserve the memories of his exciting life, including his historic achievement of becoming the first Italian to summit Mount Everest.
As you wander through the villa, Monzino's fascinating life story unfolds before your eyes.
Maps, travel tools, books, furnishings, and an impressive collection of ancient and primitive art objects all bear witness to his daily life and legendary mountaineering exploits.
Every detail is meticulously arranged to honor Monzino's vision, making for a truly immersive and unforgettable experience.
