Enter an exciting world of contemporary art and design at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. With painting, sculpture, graphic design, and photography, this is your one stop shop for all things arty in Illinois.
The museum's founders originally conceived of it as a Kunsthalle, a noncollecting “art hall” that organized and hosted temporary exhibitions of new and experimental artists. Today, the galleries host multiple exhibitions a year, some featuring works from a collection that has grown to over 2,500 artworks.
In the mood for painting? No problem! How about sculpture? You'll find it everywhere you look.
Theater, performance art or film? The museum is committed to using its incredible space to show off all art – so don't be surprised if you catch an impromptu performance in the stairwell, or see a film projected onto the gallery ceiling.
See original works by living artists and learn about the historical, social, and cultural context of the art of this time. With a suitably stylish gift shop and restaurant, it's a perfectly designed day out.
Combine Museum Of Contemporary Art (MCA) with other Chicago favorites. Some things are better together.
