The towering cylinder of Castel Sant'Angelo, and its statue of Archangel Michael, is an instantly recognizable silhouette on the banks of the Tiber.

Initially built as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian and his family, its purpose has changed many times over the years, from a fortress, a residence, a prison, and now a museum.

Excellent
So really nice trip. We were with small baby and our stroller had to stay next entry. Because of castle is not barrier free. So you have to carry your child. Tips for other parents.

Deffo worth pre booking as I walked straight in instead of having to queue. Lots to see and very interesting and beautiful. Outstanding views are a variety of levels. A must see if you are visiting Rome.

Easy to do, just follow the instructions. Great experience, very interesting to see the Castel Sant’Angelo and the climb to the top rewards you with incredible views of Rome and the Vatican.
