Find out moreThis tour delves deep into the history of Berlin from the time of the Teutonic Knights through to its key role in the major events of the 20th century as capital of the Third Reich, the divided capital of the Cold War, and as the modern capital of a unified Germany in the new Europe!
During your walking tour around Berlin's main sites, you’ll see Goering's former Luftwaffe HQ, as well as the site of Himmler's former SS and Gestapo HQ at the Topography of Terror before continuing onward to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and over the site of Hitler's bunker.
After walking through the sobering – and isolating – monument, step inside the moving memorial dedicated to the Victims of War and Tyranny. From there, your guide will lead you to the location where Nazis burned books during the infamous 1933 book-burning.
The final leg of the tour takes you to the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Reichstag Building. You'll see a section of the Berlin Wall; spend time at Checkpoint Charlie, the place where an American-Soviet standoff took place and WWIII felt like an imminent threat; and finally to the learn about the tumultuous years of the Reichstag building. Hear about its history in the German Empire, to the failed democracy of the Weimar Republic, and the rise of the Nazis in 1933.
