Visit the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Tàpies Museum to see two buildings designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
First, tour the former Montaner y Simón publishing house, now the Tàpies Museum. Built between 1880 and 1882, this building was among the first in the Eixample area to use industrial techniques with exposed brick and iron. It stands beside Antoni Gaudí's Casa Vicens as a rare example of 19th-century architecture transitioning to modernism.
Next, visit the Palau de la Música Catalana, constructed between 1905 and 1908. This architectural gem of Catalan Modernism is the only concert hall named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Learn about each building's history and see the artist’s connection to music.
