Set sail from Amsterdam-North in a brand-new, 100% electric canal boat, and cruise from the IJ canal towards the glittering Amstel river. On the way, pass the NEMO Science Museum and the fully restored Maritime Museum, passing the famous Skinny Bridge and Artis zoo.

The best way to enjoy these artworks of light is from the water. At almost six kilometres long, the Amsterdam Light Festival route has been mapped out to let you see all the works of art along the canals and on the quay.

The departure point is next to the A'dam Tower, Overhoeksplein. Take the free ferry behind Amsterdam Central Station, which departs every four minutes.

Departure location:

  • The Pier next to the A'dam Tower, Overhoeksplein. You can see the dock with the large banners of the Amsterdam Light Festival. The location is easily accessible from Central Station
  • Take the ferry F3 ‘Buiksloterweg’ behind Central Station. From the ferry, walk immediately to the left towards the A'dam Tower (the tower with the swing on the roof). After 250 meters you will cross a bridge and see the departure pier of Amsterdam Boat Cruises on the right
