It's always a treat going to a natural history museum, but it's something special when you visit one as well-curated as the Houston Museum of Natural Science. With permanent exhibitions spread across four floors, you'll be amazed at the creatures who walked the earth and the relics that have been collected from civilizations of the past.
Condensing what can take five hours to see is no easy feat, but whether you're looking for pre-Columbian gold, Fabergé eggs, or a record-breaking marlin, you'll be able to find it at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Learn more about how we power the planet at the Wiess Energy Hall. At its center, you'll find a 14-foot-wide replica of a tricone drill bit spinning overhead. You'll also encounter the Geovator, an immersive ride that makes it seem like you're journeying beneath Houston and back in time to the Cretaceous Period – where pteranodons are waiting to attack and a meteor strike is incoming!
The Cullen Hall of Gems and Minerals features some of the natural world's most sparkling wonders, and lets visitors gaze at over 450 crystallized mineral specimens. You can also discover more about the American continent, from Texan wildlife to more than 50 other cultures spanning from Alaska to Peru.
Combine Houston Museum of Natural Science with other Houston favorites. Some things are better together.
